Turner, Lockard Withdraw from Ballot

Breathitt County Court Clerk Becky W. Cutis announced this week that two candidates have withdrawn their names from the May primary ballot.

Jeff Turner, a candidate for Breathitt County Sheriff, and Johnny Lockard, who was seeking the office of Constable in District 1, withdrew their names after officially notifying the Clerk’s office of their decisions.

Due to the proximity of the announcements and the election, Curtis said the withdrawals will not affect the appearance of the ballot.

“Their names will still appear on the ballot,” Watts said.  “However, under Kentucky law, any votes cast for the two candidates will not be counted.”

The primary election will be held from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19.
