Posted

James Elliott Turner, II, returned from a recent state meeting with a new title: Mr. Secretary.

Turner, who has served as Breathitt County Circuit Court Clerk since 2013, was elected by his colleagues to serve as the Secretary of the Kentucky Association of Circuit Court Clerks for the coming year.

“It’s such an honor to be elected Secretary of the Kentucky Association of Circuit Clerks,” Turner said.  “During my years of serving on the Supreme Court Executive Committee in our Association, I have been given the knowledge and experience that will help me in this role.”

Turner succeeds Bell County Circuit Clerk Colby Slusher, who served the past years as Secretary for the organization.

“I look forward to working with other officers and the Supreme Court Executive Committee and being part of the decisions that will benefit and strengthen the clerks and the judicial system,” Turner said.

The other officers elected during the Kentucky Association of Circuit Court Clerks Spring College in Frankfort were President David Nicholson (Jefferson County), President Elect Amy Saunders (Fleming County), Vice President Colby Slusher (Bell County), and Treasurer Paulita A. Keith (Bullitt County).

As Secretary, Turner will oversee the organization’s minutes, records, correspondence, and the annual election of officers.

The Kentucky Circuit Clerk’s Association, which works in conjunction with the Administrative Office of the Courts, focuses on education, advocacy, and collaboration with other organizations to improve access to the court system across the state.
