Highway 378 in the Vancleve community was temporarily closed in the afternoon hours of Thursday, March 12, following a vehicle fire near the mouth of Morgue Fork Road.
At approximately 1:10 p.m., fire crews were notified and responded quickly to the scene, where they found a Ford pickup truck fully engulfed in flames.
The owner of the vehicle, John Mitchell, told fire officials that he was driving the truck to the shop for repairs when he noticed “a loud noise” and flames coming from the vehicle.
Members of the Vancleve Fire Department remained on the scene for approximately an hour, working to extinguish the fire.
The truck, along with some debris left by the fire, was removed from the roadway, and Highway 378 was reopened at approximately 2:00 p.m.
There were no injuries reported.
