A Breathitt County mother and grandmother hospitalized following a deadly Wolfe County crash on March 12, died on Monday at the University of Kentucky Medical Center from her injuries.
Candice Gabbard, 58, of Jackson, was flown to Lexington with serious and life-threatening injuries following the crash that killed Courtney Berry, 86, of Campton.
Officials reported that Gabbard was traveling south near the intersection of Mattie Graham Road and Highway 15 when she crossed the center line and struck the 2010 Toyota driven by Berry. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Candice Gabbard, a 1986 graduate of Breathitt High School, was the daughter of Sue Gabbard and the late Earl C. Gabbard of Dry Bread.
Funeral services for Gabbard are scheduled for Saturday, March 28, at Breathitt Funeral Home. She will be buried in the Haddix Cemetery near her childhood home
