The Breathitt County Fiscal Court and the Breathitt County Solid Waste Coordinator announced on Monday that the county will conduct a Waste Tire Collection Event on April 23rd and 24th.
Old tires can be dropped off starting on April 20th at 9:00 a.m., and the gate will remain open until 4:30 p.m. The second day of collection will start on April 25th at 9:00 a.m. and run until 1:00 p.m.
The event, cosponsored by the Kentucky Division of Waste Management, is aimed at reducing the number of used tires that are illegally discarded or burned for disposal.
During the event, any Kentucky resident can drop off a truck, light truck, passenger vehicle, implement, lawn tractor, bicycle, motorcycle, golf cart, or similar tires at the Breathitt County Debris Lot near Walmart on Highway 15 South. Approved tires will be accepted on or off the rim.
The event will not accept foam-filled, calcium-filled, off-road construction (OTR), rubber-tracks, or solid tires.
