An eleven-year-old Frozen Creek child was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center late Tuesday evening after being shot in the eye with a BB gun.
Few details have been released, but one official said that the child was accidentally shot with a BB shortly after 6:50 p.m. on May 5.
Emergency crews from Breathitt-Wolfe Ambulance were dispatched to the scene near Taulbee on Frozen Creek at 6:54 p.m.
Before emergency crews arrived, family members loaded the child into the vehicle and started toward the Jackson hospital. The family was intercepted by paramedics, and the child was transported by ambulance for treatment.
The unidentified child was evaluated and stabilized at Kentucky River Medical Center before being transferred by ambulance to the Pediatric Emergency Medical Unit at UK Hospital in Lexington for more acute, specialized care.
No report of the child’s condition has been released.
