Ricky Joseph Thomas, 75, of Coomer Fork in Jackson departed this earthly life Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the UK Hospice Care Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
Born June 29, 1951 in Paris, Kentucky, Ricky Joseph Thomas was the son of the late James Arthur Thomas and Ruby Frances Todd Thomas. He was of the Baptist faith and built a life centered on family, work and the interests he held dear.
Ricky pursued advanced education, earning a doctorate in law. He also earned a taxation degree from Harvard. In his professional life, he was involved in several businesses including Thomas Bros. Painting Co. His work reflected a longstanding commitment to his responsibilities and endeavors.
Family remained an important part of his life. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mildred Neace Thomas; his son, Chase Neace and wife, Tosha; his brothers, James Arthur Thomas II and Sammy Todd Thomas; his grandchildren, Wyatt Neace, Daisy Neace and Legend Neace; his nieces, Rachel, Stephanie and Melanie; his nephews, Christian and Jamie; and his great-nephew, Christopher.
Those who knew him will remember the place family held in his life. He also enjoyed following the UK Wildcats, an interest that remained among the personal pleasures he appreciated over the years.
A viewing for Ricky will be held Friday, October 2, 2026 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the Breathitt Funeral Home with graveside service to be held at the Family Cemetery at Coomer Fork immediately following.
Ricky Joseph Thomas will be remembered with respect by those whose lives were connected with him through family, work, faith, and friendship. His memory remains with all who knew him.
