Barbara Jean Couch, 76, of Vancleve, Kentucky departed this earthly life Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at her home. Born on September 11, 1949 in Campton, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Mary Brewer Moore.
Barbara dedicated her life to her family and home as a homemaker. She found joy in the simple yet profound pleasures of life—spending time with her loved ones, tending to her flowers outdoors, and sharing her love through cooking. A devoted member of Boone Fork Church, Barbara cherished her faith and the fellowship it brought into her life.
Barbara was blessed with two loving marriages. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 50 years, Wilgus Conner. In recent years, she shared four wonderful years of marriage with her surviving husband, Melvin Couch. Her family was the center of her world and she leaves behind a legacy of love through her children: son, Junior Conner (Debbie) and daughter, Mary Blair (Doug). She is also survived by her siblings: brothers, J.C. Moore (Sharon) and Jim Moore and sister, Geneva Flinchum.
In addition to her parents and first husband, Barbara was predeceased by several siblings: brothers, Charles Moore and Billy Moore; and sisters, Pearl Flinchum, Ann Gillum and Sue Gillum.
Visitation for Barbara will begin Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Breathitt Funeral Home with her funeral to begin Sunday, March 1, 2026 at 2:00 PM with John Tincher and Darrell Parks in charge of the services. Burial will follow in the Conner Family Cemetery at Frozen, Ky with Family and Friends serving as pallbearers.
Barbara’s life was a testament to kindness, devotion, and faith. Whether attending church services or nurturing the beauty of nature in her garden, she lived each day with purpose and grace. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
