Danny Lee Gillum

Danny Lee Gillum, 77, of Jackson, Kentucky passed away peacefully on Monday, April 21, 2025 at Breathitt Health and Rehab in Jackson. 

Born February 29, 1948 in Frozen, Kentucky he was the son of the late James and Inez Brewer Gillum.  He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Arnold, Gary, and Paul Gillum and his sisters, Audrey Proctor, Jean Finch, and Christine "Tennie" Bushman.

Danny was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and a man who lived a life filled with simple pleasures. A retired natural gas worker for Mid Stream Gas Co., he found joy in the companionship of his family especially his grandsons, Kaden and Braxton Gillum. He was a member of the Morgue Church of Christ. His leisure time was spent listening to gospel music, running his rabbit dogs, watching Western movies, and cheering on the UK Wildcats basketball team.

Danny is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Allene Gillum; his sons, Chris (Crystal) Gillum and Terry Gillum (Vince Fertig); his stepdaughter, Anita (Russell) Sparks and her children and grandchildren; his brother, Cecil Gillum; his sister, Carol Morrow; and his brother-in-law, Andy (Sue) Hays. 

A memorial service celebrating Danny’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2023, at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with John Tincher officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM that day.

His memory will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
