Buford W. Williams Jr.

Buford W. Williams Jr., 76 of Jackson, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2024 at home.  

He was the son of the late Buford and Nettie Marie Morris Williams.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, Freddie Williams and cousins, Mary O'Conner and Nettie Kinchular.

Buford was a teacher and coach retiring after 27 years of teaching.  During his coaching career he obtained 830 wins, 180 losses in basketball and 307 wins, 146 losses in baseball.  He was inducted into the baseball hall of fame and the coach hall of fame.

Buford was a guy who got the most out of his God given ability.

He is survived by nieces, Jennifer Rebecca Williams and Emille Melissa Williams; cousins, Barbara Gross, Anna Morris, Debra Gibbs, Delmar Shouse, Charles McKnight; beloved caregivers, David and Maxine Parks, Joe White, Sue Wittenmyer.

Visitation for Buford will be Tuesday, September 17, 5:00 - 9:00 PM with masonic rites being held at 7:00 PM.  Buford's funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 18, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Gary Bellamy officiating.  Burial will follow in the Jackson Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joe White, Billy Deaton, David Gross, David Alan Gross, Paul Patrick, Ryan Turner, Patrick Wooton, Dennis Moore, Thomas Chaney, Daniel Haddix, Kenneth Patrick, Roger Friley, David Parks.
