Willie Watts, 68 of Jackson, Kentucky departed this earthly life Friday, May 15, 2026 at his home at Hoover Bridge in Jackson. Born on May 9, 1958, in Jackson, Willie spent his life rooted in the community he loved.
Willie dedicated over two decades of his career to Leggett and Platt, retiring after 21 years of hard work and commitment. Beyond his professional life, he was a man of faith and a devoted member of the Elkatawa Free Methodist Church. His faith guided him throughout his life as he lived as a godly man who cherished his family, friends, and community.
On September 6, 1995, Willie met the love of his life, Carmen. Their bond grew into a beautiful partnership that culminated in their marriage on October 18, 1997. Together they shared 28 1/2 years of love and companionship. Willie’s devotion to Carmen was evident to all who knew them.
Willie had a deep passion for sports, especially cheering on the UK Wildcats. He found joy in being outdoors and treasured time spent with family and friends. His warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly three decades, Carmen Watts; his brother, Jeffrey Watts (Stephanie); sisters, Ina Mullins (Danny), Patty Plummer and Kathy Gay; mother-in-law, Linda Combs; brothers-in-law, Miles Combs, Lonnie Combs and Scott Cogswell (Lillian); sisters-in-law, Lila Watts, Lawanda Watts, Wanda Combs, Elizabeth Harris, Julie Stamper and Sandra Trent (Richard). Willie also leaves behind special friends, Janet and Darrell Cundiff and their family; a host of nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and Alpha Watts; brothers, David Watts, Sam B. Watts and Kevin Watts; brothers-in-law, Larry Plummer and Timothy Gay; and father-in-law, George Combs.
Visitation for Willie will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Breathitt Funeral Home with his funeral service scheduled to begin Wednesday, May 20, at 1:00 PM with Harry Kemper and Paul Shepherd in charge of the service.
Burial will follow in the Jackson Cemetery with Travis Mullins, Tyler Combs, Jason Plummer, Ben Adkins, Derrick Brown and Brian Strong serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Danny Mullins, Tyler Gay, James David Plummer and Jeff Watts.
Willie’s memory will live on through the countless lives he touched with his generosity of spirit and unwavering love for those around him. May those who knew him find comfort in remembering the joy he brought into their lives.
