The details of a crash that closed part of Highway 15 on April 20 changed after investigators reviewed a local agency's video of the incident.
Initial reports from the scene indicated that Joshua Chandler, of Jackson, was traveling north on Highway 15 when he crossed the centerline and struck a Tahoe driven by Sarah Goff of Tennessee.
During the course of the investigation, the Jackson Police Department interviewed both drivers and reported that Goff told investigators that she was turning out of Brewer’s Drive onto Highway 15 when Chandler “swerved towards her to purposely hit her.”
Chandler told officers at the scene that he was driving “straight on KY-15 N” when she pulled out in front of him.
Officials later recovered video of the accident from security cameras at the Jackson Fire Department on Brewer’s Drive.
Based on the footage obtained, officials placed the blame for the accident on Goff after she attempted to pull out onto the roadway, causing Chandler to hit her.
Both vehicles were disabled in the crash and removed from the scene.
