Vesta Miller, 67, of Hardshell, Kentucky departed this earthly life Thursday, October 29, 2026 at her home.
Born on January 18, 1959 in Ary, Kentucky, Vesta was the daughter of the late Arthur and Arbutis Fugate Miller. She spent her life rooted in the mountains of eastern Kentucky and was known through her work as a tax preparer. Along with her career, she devoted much of her time to the everyday labors and comforts that shaped her home and family life.
Vesta especially enjoyed time with her family and took particular joy in her grandchildren. She also enjoyed crocheting, canning and farming, interests that reflected a life centered on both care and hard work.
She is survived by her husband, Darryl Allen; her son, Arthur Paul Miller; her daughter, Ashley Renee Miller (Gary Smith); her brothers, Merrill Farler and Earl Farler (Sami Farler); her sisters, Sallie Watts and Creola Miller; and her grandchildren, Asbjorn Allen-Miller and Ariella Allen-Miller.
In addition to her parents, Vesta was preceded in death by her grandson, Kane Allen-Miller and her brother, Joe Neace.
Visitation for Vesta will be held Monday, November 2, 2026 beginning at 11:00 AM at the Breathitt Funeral Home with her funeral service to begin at 12:00 PM with Roger Voth officiating.
Vesta Miller will be remembered for the life she built in her community, for the work of her hands and for the time she shared with those closest to her. Her memory will remain with her family and all who knew her.
