The Kentucky Department of Highways District 10 Office announced on Tuesday, April 21, that the major traffic change would be in effect for Washington Avenue in Jackson near Bobcat Lane.
The shift will be in effect for the morning commute on Wednesday, April 22, for Washington Avenue (Ky. Highway 1812) as part of the Highway 15 Widening Project.
According to the news release, construction crews will adjust the lanes “toward the school side of Washington Avenue,” and a barrier wall will be installed to protect workers.
The shift will not reduce the number of lanes but will maintain the three lanes of traffic that are currently allowing traffic in the area.
Highway officials urge drivers to be very cautious in the area, especially in the mornings and afternoons when school traffic is increased.
Construction on the Highway 15/Washington Avenue widening project is expected to continue through 2027.
