The annual Downtown Christmas event brought thousands of visitors to Jackson on December 6. Events scheduled throughout the day drew visitors to the streets to enjoy visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, a petting zoo, crafts, character meet-and-greets, storytelling, a Christmas concert, and the annual chili cookoff competition.
Travis Cornett walked away with the coveted silver ladle after claiming the over title during the chili cookoff. Sixteen chefs entered offerings in the spicy and mild categories at the competition held in the basement of the First Baptist Church on Broadway.
Children and parents alike enjoyed meeting and having their pictures taken with many characters at the Breathitt County Public Library.
The day was completed with the 2025 edition of the reverse parade through downtown Jackson. Hundreds of vehicles drove through the center of Downtown Jackson to enjoy the sights of sounds of the annual event.
The event is sponsored by the Jackson Woman’s Club, Jackson Parks and Recreation, Jackson Tourism Board, and the Jackson Lions Club.
