Officers with the Jackson Police Department kicked off their annual Shop With A Cop program in December by helping several area children enjoy a happier Christmas.
Much-loved program relies on proceeds generated by the sale of t-shirts and numerous donations from the community to provide a Christmas shopping experience for children in school systems across Breathitt County.
Chief Brian Haddix and his officers are assisted by school and community volunteers. Children are selected and allowed to purchase clothing and other required items during their visit to the Jackson Walmart. A portion of their shopping trip also permits them to buy several fun items for themselves and others.
The Jackson Police Department appreciates the donations and efforts by the many community partners, and especially the Jackson Walmart staff, Jackson Fire Department, and the City of Jackson.
The shopping trips continued through the week, and the 2025 shoppers will have checked off their shopping list long before the Christmas break comes this school year.
