Richard Lee Oaks, age 80, of Jackson, KY surrounded by his loved ones, departed this earthly life for his heavenly home on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington, KY. He was born November 22, 1945, at Elkatawa, KY and was the son of the late Marion and Nell Overbee Oaks. He was preceded also in death by his brothers: John Oaks and James Oaks. His sister: Georgia Jett.
Richard was a US Army Veteran. A faithful member of the First Church of God. He enjoyed working in his garden and loved his family.
He is survived by his wife: Vickie Goff Oaks of Jackson, KY. Stepdaughter: Naomi Bowling of Georgetown, KY. One nephew: Jimmy (Brenda) Oaks of TN. Two nieces: Nelda (John) Marshall and Mary (Archie) Bowling, both of Jackson, KY. Two great nephews: Tyler (Logan) Oaks of TN and Zach (Megan) Miller of Jackson, KY. He is also survived by a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Hollon officiating. Burial in Jackson Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Monday at 8:00 am until time of service. Deaton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers: Jeff Riggs, Doug Gross, Phillip Gabbard, Jerry Noble, Dan Griffith, John Marshall.
