Miriam H. Allen Little, age 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2026 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Born on January 27, 1934 in Whick, Kentucky, Miriam lived a long and fulfilling life devoted to her family, faith and the simple joys that brought her happiness.

Miriam was the wife of the late Charles "Chalk" Little and the daughter of the late Ervine Sr. and Alice Turner Allen. She was also preceded in death by her son, Charlie H. Little; her granddaughter, Mikaela Little and her siblings, Lena Fay Allen, Lillie Belle Allen, Joyce Maria Campbell, Curtis Allen, Lindberg Allen, Jesse W. Allen and R. Douglas Allen.

She grew up surrounded by a large and loving family and carried those values into her own life. A dedicated homemaker and retired telephone operator, Miriam balanced her professional responsibilities with her unwavering commitment to nurturing her family.

Miriam is survived by her children, Jeffrey Lind Little (Kim) and Kymberly Little Bailey (Mark). Miriam’s love for her children extended to her grandchildren—Tia Little, Jeffrey Clayton Little, Alicia Elizabeth Little, Lauren Ashley Little, Charles Josiah Bailey, Charlee Hope Little—and she treasured every moment spent with them.  She is also survived by her brothers, Ervine Allen Jr. and Ronnie G. Allen.

A woman of deep faith, Miriam attended Providence Pentecostal Church for many years. Her spiritual life was a cornerstone of who she was—a source of strength that guided her through life’s challenges and joys alike.

Miriam found immense joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and took great pride in their accomplishments. Flowers brightened her days as much as bird watching did—she delighted in observing nature’s beauty around her. Site seeing and family gatherings were among her favorite activities; these moments allowed Miriam to create lasting memories with those she held dear.

Her kitchen was often filled with the comforting aroma of home-cooked meals—a testament to her love for cooking and baking. Her cornbread and jam cake were legendary among family members and friends alike—a true reflection of the warmth she brought into every aspect of life.

Visitation for Miriam will begin Thursday, March 12, 2026 from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM at the Breathitt Funeral Home with the funeral service to begin Friday, March 13, 2026 at 1:00 PM with Gary Bellamy officiating.

A private entombment will be held at a later date.

Miriam’s memory will be cherished by all who knew her for the love she gave so freely and the joy she brought into their lives.

May those who mourn find comfort in remembering Miriam’s remarkable life—a life filled with devotion to family, faith, and the beauty of everyday moments.
