Lois Gross Jett, 74 of Bethany, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord Monday, July 13, 2026 at her home. Born on November 9, 1951 in Jackson, Kentucky, Lois was the daughter of the late Bess and Dora Southers Gross.

Lois pursued her education with dedication earning a master’s degree that laid the foundation for her impactful career. She began as a secretary and later became a beloved teacher with the Breathitt Board of Education before retiring. Her commitment to education and her students left an enduring legacy in her community.

A devoted member of Bethlehem Old Regular Baptist Church, Lois was deeply rooted in her faith. She founded the Ladies Prayer Group at her church, demonstrating her passion for fostering spiritual growth and connection among others. Her love for Bible study reflected her unwavering devotion to God and her desire to live a life guided by faith.

Lois cherished spending time with her family above all else. Married to Wayne Jett for 52 years, their bond was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together they raised two daughters: Kristal Combs (Kenneth "Shorty") and Stephanie Chitwood (Brent). Lois found immense joy in being a grandmother to Kory Wayne Combs, Kylan Asher Combs and Kenton Kristopher Combs. Babysitting her grandsons brought her great happiness and allowed her to create lasting memories with them.

Her large family was central to her life. Lois is survived by her brothers; Arthur Gross (Linda), David Gross (Barbara) and Bess Gross Jr. (Paula); sisters; Carol Haddix (Auburn) and Willa Lewis (Andy); sister-in-law; Teresa Gross; as well as many special nieces and nephews who held a dear place in her heart. She was predeceased by her parents, Bess and Dora Southers Gross and her brother, Elijah Gross.

Lois had a deep appreciation for nature and found solace in flower gardening. Her gardens were a reflection of the beauty she cultivated in every aspect of her life. Whether tending to blooms or nurturing relationships with loved ones, Lois approached everything with care and grace.

Visitation for Lois will be Thursday, July 16, 2026 beginning at 11:00 AM at the Breathitt Funeral Home with her funeral service to be held at 1:00 PM with Bess Gross Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow in the Jett Gilbert Cemetery at Highland, Kentucky with Kenneth "Shorty" Combs, Kory Combs, Kylan Combs, Kenton Combs, Bradley Hall, Sawyer Hall, Ryan Back and Wesley Gross serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers include Justin Gross and Brett Gross.

Her legacy is one of faith, love, and service—a life well-lived that touched countless hearts. May those who knew Lois find comfort in their memories of her warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion.

Lois will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
