A four-member Breathitt County band is working to get traction in the music industry.
Mortal Theory, an alternative rock, grunge music band based in Jackson, announced on Sunday, November 16, that the group had finished recording its first single with BlackLite Productions in Cincinnati. The group announced on their TikTok channel that the song was in the process of mixing and mastering.
The Band’s members include Wesley Blanton on guitar, Billy Turner on drums, Marcus Griffith on bass, and Justice Turner is the group’s lead singer
Mortal Theory established a TikTok page to share their music on November 12 and has garnered more than 55,900 followers on the platform within a month. Their videos have already racked up over 6 million views in that brief period.
One of their most recent videos, a song titled “Without Warning,” has been shared by inter personality Trailer Park Tammy and Alisa DeFord, the wife of singer Jelly Roll.
Since launching their TikTok channel, Mortal Theory has received multiple offers from producers across California to Connecticut, offering to help produce the band’s next musical release.
The next step for the band is more time in the recording studio.
The band plans to release a professional extended play album early next year.
