Community and business leaders from across the county had questions on Tuesday, March 3, at the monthly meeting of the Jackson Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Jennifer Lindon, President and CEO of Hazard Community and Technical College, served as the keynote speaker at the meeting and provided updates on a wide range of topics related to the college for those in attendance.
Most prominently featured was the current discussion about the fate of Jackson Hall on the Lee's College Campus.
Lindon discussed the building's history and the feasibility studies completed on the structure. She highlighted the challenges the historic building faces and the estimated costs of preserving the structure.
She listened to feedback from several members of the community, who offered suggestions and questions about the proposed uses of the space if the building were demolished and about possible uses if it could be saved.
Lindon emphasized that the “college leadership remains open to ideas beyond demolition.”
She reminded those in attendance that the college is seeking input from the entire community through an online survey.
Dr. Lindon asked those interested in the project to make their voice heard by visiting hazardctc.com/jacksonhallfeedbackform to complete the form.
