Linda Kay Lane, age 71, of Beaver, KY, wife of Waltr B. Lane, (The Hillbilly Poet) passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at the Hazard ARH, Hazard, KY. She was born December 4, 1954 in Pikeville, KY, a daughter of the late Malvin and Josephine Maynard Gross. She was a member of the CHURCH OF CHRIST and retired from Helping Hands.
In addition to her husband, Waltr, she is survived by one son; Justin (Christi) Reynolds, Betsy Layne, KY, two brothers; Malvin Gross Jr. and Paul Gross, two sisters; Rita Reynolds and Betty May, two grandchildren; Benton and JT Reynolds, adopted granddaughter; Keisha Johnson Isaac.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five sisters; Elizabeth Akers, Barbara Newsome, Joann Maynard and Pamela Gross, Deloris May.
Graveside service will be conducted Friday, September 11, 2026 at 2 p.m. at the Family Cemetery, Gross Hollow, Pikeville, KY, under direction of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky.
