Jenna Wiseman Highlights Native Herbs Value and Usage

Posted

The GFWC Jackson Woman’s Club met on February 10, 2026, at the Breathitt County Senior Citizens Center. President Jackie Howard presided.

Jenna Wiseman, proprietor Holler Herbs, was the guest speaker highlighting the value and usage of Appalachian herbs.

Noting that her family lives on the property of her late grandparents at Haddix, Kentucky and her great respect for her Breathitt County Appalachian heritage, Jenna stressed the importance of native herbs in our everyday lives. She mentioned how herbs are used in medical preparations such as teas, tinctures, vinegars for issues affecting the digestive, urinary, respiratory, and immune systems and also topical uses to treat rashes, insect bites, and minor burns.

Precautions for the location of herbs, preparation of herbs, and allergy-related issues were also noted.

If interested in information relating to native herbs and in purchasing prepared herbs, please contact Jenna Wiseman at Holler Herbs on Facebook.
