JCS Claims Middle School District Championship

The Jackson City School Quick Recall Team won the 2026 Governor’s Cup District Championship on Saturday, January 17.

The Quick Recall Team defeated Wolfe County, Owsley County, and Breathitt County Middle Schools to claim the title.

The team, consisting of Mason Gross, Adelynn Bowling, Banner Clemons, Axl Johnson, Colton Smathers, Cailet Adams, and Jasalynn Herald, correctly answered a variety of questions on their way to the Championship.

The Tigers also claimed several individual honors.

Mason Gross, Banner Clemons, Colton Smathers, and Jasalynn Herald placed 1st in Future Problem Solving.

Arts & Humanities: Mason Gross: 1st Place.

Language Arts: Cailet Adams: 1st place, Adelynn Bowling: 2nd place, and Mason Gross: 3rd place.

Math: Axl Johnson: 3rd place.

Science: Adelynn Bowling: 2nd place.

Social Studies: Cailet Adams: 1st place.

Written Composition: Adelynn Bowling: 1st place.

Cailet Adams: 3rd place, and Laiken O’Malley: 5th place.

General Knowledge: Mason Gross: 1st place, Adelynn Bowling: 2nd place, Cailet Adams: 3rd place, and Banner Clemons and Jasalynn Herald tied for 4th place.

Colton Smathers: 5th place.

The JCS Middle School Tiger will advance to the Regional Governor’s Cup Competition for Future Problem Solving on February 9 and the Written Assessment Quizzes and Quick Recall on February 14.
