A firefighter at the Jackson Volunteer Fire Department was hospitalized on Tuesday evening after an ATV crash on the Middle Fork.

Isaac Spencer was transported by emergency vehicles to the Kentucky River Medical Center after 6:30 p.m.

According to sources, Spencer and another rider wrecked an ATV near his home on Highway 2469 (Highland Road).

He was transported to Jackson Hospital and later transferred by ambulance to Lexington.  Spencer was scheduled for surgery early on Wednesday morning.

Sources said that he suffered a possible broken femur and hip in the accident.

“God definitely had his hand of protection around them both,” Spencer’s mother, Arlina Spencer, said.

Spencer will remain at the University of Kentucky Hospital while doctors treat his injuries.
