Fight Over Remote Jails Two

Posted

Two Jackson residents were lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail on Saturday after a fight over a remote control led to assault.

Nichole Marie Spicer, 33, and Alto Joshua Short, 37, both of Emmalena, Kentucky, were arrested on April 18, and each was charged with one count of Assault in the Fourth Degree (Domestic Violence- No Visible Injury) after a 911 call.

Officers from the Jackson Police Department were called to Lot 14 of the Mullins Trailer Court near the intersection of Highway 30 West and Beattyville Road (Highway 52) after the report of a physical altercation.

Officers Tim Chandler and Jeramie Long took statements from both Spicer and Short shortly after they arrived on the scene at 9:10 p.m.

Spicer told officers that she “went to get her remote control” from Short, and he refused to give it to her.  She told investigators that she “slapped him in the face.”  After some discussion, Spicer said the pair traded slaps.  She also said Short allegedly hit her “in the head multiple times.”

Short told the Jackson Police Department that she hit him after he refused to give her the remote, but that he did not hit her back.

The accused assailants refused medical treatment or evaluation.

Officers noted in their reports that no visible signs of an altercation were observed on either Spicer or Short.

Spicer and Short were transported to the Kentucky River Regional Jail in Hazard and lodged on the single counts on Saturday afternoon.

Aldo Short was released at 12:03 p.m. on Sunday, April 19.  Spicer left the Hazard jail at 1:50 p.m. the same day.

Officials believe that alcohol may have played a role in the incident.

Both are scheduled to appear in Breathitt District Court before Judge Gary Salyers to answer the charges.
