A Breathitt County Man was arrested on Wednesday, January 21, and charged with assault after an altercation with his girlfriend.
Alex J. Campbell, 22 of Russell Branch, was arrested and charged with one count of Assault in the Fourth Degree (Domestic Violence No Visible Injury).
He was lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Detention Center in Hazard.
According to officials, Dispatchers at Post 13 received a phone call from the sister of a woman on Russell Branch Road. The caller reported that Campbell had assaulted her sister.
Trooper Kevin Day responded to the location and met the victim, who told him that a verbal argument between her and Campbell turned violent after she refused to give him her debit card.
The victim told Trooper Day that Campbell took one of her children outside and placed the child in a vehicle. Campbell was also accused of pushing the victim against a wall, choking her, and then breaking out a window in the home. He exited the home and ran into the woods.
Day located Campbell in the woods near the home and arrested him.
He remains lodged in the detention center in Hazard pending arraignment before Judge Gary Salyers.
