Trail Ride raises $4,800 for Spencer and White
June 28, 2025

The outpouring of love for two local children in Breathitt County suffering from life-threatening illnesses continued Saturday, June 21, when organizers of a trail ride collected more than $2,000.
The ride was planned to benefit the families of Carson Spencer and Josh White by Fat Baby Powersports and Chris Howard. Shannon Clemons Ritchie and Joy Howard organized the T-shirt sales.
The event, organized by several local supporters, raised money by selling T-shirts, sponsorships, and the $30 entry fees for the ride. The ride, led by Layne Gibson, started at the Elkview Campground and covered several miles on some rough and rugged ATV trails near the head of South Fork and Quicksand Creek.
According to reports, the sponsors netted over $2,800 in T-shirt money and nearly $2,091 from entry fees, donations, and raffles. All the funds raised will be donated to the families of Carson and Josh as they continue to battle cancer and will be split equally.
The riders and organizers enjoyed a post-ride meal and lots of fellowship to support a good cause.
Illness and the extreme heat prevented both boys from attending the fundraiser, but the sponsors and others provided many pictures for the boys to see.
Carson Spencer is the son of Peyton Hensley and Kyle Spencer. Josh White is the son of Burley and Denita White. Both boys have been battling cancer with the support and assistance of the generous people of the Breathitt County area.
If you would like to donate to help support Spencer and White with travel expenses and other needs, please contact their parents directly.
A healthy Breathitt County requires great community news.
