Mary Kaye Abner, 71 of Georgetown, Kentucky passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, May 19, 2025. Born March 10, 1954 in Jackson, Kentucky to the late Jeff and Wilma Jean Deaton Terry she lived a life filled with love, family, and service to others.
Mary Kaye was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was married to her beloved husband, Ance Vize Abner for 50 years. Their enduring love was a testament to their commitment and partnership. She is survived by her two sons, Jason Will Abner (Cindy Covington) and Jarrod Brant Abner (Carrie) who will deeply miss their mother's unwavering support and love. She leaves behind two cherished grandchildren, Mary Daniel Abner and Colby Brant Abner who brought immense joy to her life.
Mary Kaye's warm heart extended to her large and loving family. She is survived by her brothers, Douglas Terry (Sheila) and Tommy Terry; sisters, Brenda Watts (Lonnie), Bernice Slone (John Michael) and Nancy Davis (Garland); and she was preceded in death by her brothers, Elmer Terry and Paul Terry.
A dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), her gentle nature and nurturing spirit were evident in all aspects of her life. After retiring, she continued to share her kindness and generosity helping those around her and caring for the elderly.
Mary Kaye's talents extended beyond her profession. She was a marvelous seamstress known for her beautiful curtains and other creations. She possessed a green thumb, finding joy in gardening and landscaping. And perhaps most famously, she was a skilled cook especially known for her exceptional chocolate chip cookies. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family and friends.
A longtime member of the Jackson Christian Church, Mary Kaye's faith was a cornerstone of her life.
Visitation for Mary will be held Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Breathitt Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM officiated by John Bunn. Burial will follow at Thomas Griffith Cemetery in Houston where family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Mary Kaye will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, compassion and skill will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers family request donations be made to the Methodist Mountain Mission or the Wolverine United Methodist Church.
