May 05, 2025

Mary Elizabeth Combs Hudson, 92, Jackson, Kentucky, widowed wife of Andrew Hudson, entered eternal rest on Friday, May 2, 2025.
Born on July 27, 1932, in Jackson, Kentucky, Mary was the daughter of the late Hager and Dovie Clemons Combs. Known as Sissie to her six siblings, she is preceded in death by four brothers, Carl Combs, Charles Alfred (Jake) Combs, Thomas Combs, Pryce Combs and one sister, Cora Margaret Combs Stivers.
Mary was a member of the First Church of God and faithfully attended when her health allowed. She dearly loved reading her Bible and her church family.
For more than twenty years, many saw her smiling face as the receptionist for Dr. Robert Cornett. She greeted all those in the Breathitt County Courthouse while serving as secretary to the late Sheriff Dean Spencer.
Mary found joy in her early years tending to her flower gardens. In her later years, she could be found rounding the Kiwanis Park track with her walker. She maintained a life-long love of cheering on the UK Wildcats, shoe shopping, and sewing quilts for her family. More than anything, she treasured every moment with all of her loved ones.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Andrea Kaye (Larry) Turner, her granddaughters, Chrisandrea Turner and Adrian (Kent) Deese, and her great-grandchildren, Adrienne Reece and Maddox Drew Ingram, and Hudson and Julia Claire Deese. She is also survived by one sister, Ruth (Tootsie) Combs Wiseman and a host of nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends.
Visitation for Mary will be Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the Breathitt Funeral Home Chapel at 11 :00 AM. Her funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM. Officiating will be Stephen Bowling, Kenneth Noble, John Bunn, and Bobby Hollon. Burial will follow in the Jackson Cemetery.
Pallbearers are her nephews, great-nephews, Kent and Hudson Deese, Ted Edmonds, and Will Turner. Honorary pallbearers are the ladies of the First Church of God.
All who knew and loved Mary will cherish her memory.
A healthy Breathitt County requires great community news.
