Harold Andrus Douthitt

Harold Andrus Douthitt, age 77, of Jackson, Kentucky passed away suddenly on April 8, 2025.  Born on July 20, 1947, in Mayfield, KY to the late Slayden and Lillian Douthitt, Harold was a long-time business owner in Jackson and former member of the national board of directors for TruServ.  Generous and kind, he was instrumental in the formation of Douthitt Park through his donation to the city and enjoyed giving back to the community. He loved talking to people, spending time by the pool listening to Jimmy Buffett music and living life to the fullest.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, his “Shug” Elizabeth “Betsy” Douthitt. Three children, Slayden Charles Douthitt, Elizabeth Andrus Douthitt-Sizemore (Wayne), and Key Douthitt (Rakisha); one sister and one brother: Bess and Martin Douthitt.  Five grandchildren: Slayde, Hylton, McClellan, Arlo and Omie.

There will be a Celebration of Life by the pool at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Center.
