Carolyn Sue Holland Combs of Jackson, Kentucky departed this earthly life on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Breathitt Health and Rehab in Jackson.
Born September 14, 1946 at Haddix, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late James “Jim” Holland and Roxie Bryant Holland and was 78 years of age at her passing. Carolyn dedicated her professional life to education and was a retired educator. She found great joy in spending time with her family and friends, engaging in long conversations on the phone, watching Westerns, and cheering for anything related to the University of Kentucky.
Carolyn is survived by her devoted husband of 33 years, William “Bill” Combs; her daughter, Kena Bouchard Gross and husband Doug; her beloved granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Keesha Deshae and Tyler Christy whom she loved as a grandson; and a special nephew she cherished as a son, Roger Combs and wife, Melissa. She also leaves behind many dear special friends including Lenora, Little Mary, Martha, Susan, Darlene, Portia, Helen, Ann, Daisy, Jessica, Vickie, Savannah, and Drema as well as a host of extended family and friends who will miss her deeply.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 3 at the funeral home from 5:00 to 9:00 PM. Funeral service will take place Friday, April 4 at 1:00 PM with John Bunn and Kerney Bouchard officiating.
Carolyn will be laid to rest in the Haddix Cemetery at Haddix with Keith Turner, Kenneth Turner, Clifton Hudson, Roger Combs, Doug Gross, and Tyler Christy serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include the staff at Breathitt Health and Rehab, Darrell Herald, Michael Bush, Everett Dunaway, Neal Terry, Trooper Jordan Barnett, Tyler Neace, David Campbell, and Jeff Carter.
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
