Gladys Haddix Fugate

Gladys Haddix Fugate, 74, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at her home in Winchester, Kentucky.

Born to Thomas Weslie and Hazel Combs Haddix, Gladys was one of eleven children. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Edward Fugate; son, William Edward Fugate and siblings, Homer Haddix, Alonzo Haddix, Leslie Haddix, Ledford Haddix, Glaudia Campbell, Loretta Noble, Deloris Shouse, and Darrell Haddix. 
 
She is survived by son, Timothy Joseph Fugate; daughter, Amy Jaclyn Rouse; brother, David Ray Haddix; sister, Olga Getsch; grandchildren, Thomas, Joseph, Benjamin, Anthony, TJ, Claudia, and Oliver; and great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Zander, and Phoenix.
Gladys graduated with honors from Eastern Kentucky University and went on to work as a paralegal. Her love of learning and sharp intellect were evident throughout her life. She had a deep appreciation for Victorian films and literature and found joy in homekeeping and sewing. She also dabbled in painting and enjoyed spirited political discussions.
Above all else Gladys cherished time spent with her family. Her presence will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
Visitation for Gladys will be Friday, April 4, 2025 at Breathitt Funeral Home from 5:00 to 9:00 PM and her funeral service will begin Saturday, April 5, at 11:00 AM with Clay Gross officiating.  Burial will follow in the T Point Cemetery at Clayhole with family and friends to serve as pallbearers.
