BHS Graduate Joins JPD

March 21, 2025

A 1990 Breathitt High School graduate is the newest office to join the Jackson Police Department.

Erskin C. Davis, 53, took the oath of office on Monday, March 17, and sword to serve the people of Jackson.  Mayor Laura Thomas administered the oath as other members of the JPD looked on.

“We are excited to have him on board,” Chief Brian Haddix said on Monday, “We know he will be a great asset to our schools and the community.”

Davis will serve as the School Resource Officer for the Breathitt County Schools, based primarily at Breathitt High School.

Jackson’s newest office is no stranger to law enforcement.  Davis retired from the Morehead Police Department in 2024 after a 22-year career.  In December 2019, he was promoted from Sergeant to Captain.

Davis is the son of Erskin and Golden (McIntosh) Davis of Quicksand.
