Alton Collins Jr., 65 of Jackson, Ky passed away peacefully, on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the Breathitt Health and Rehab center in Jackson.

Born in Trenton, Ohio, Alton was a son of the late Alton Sr. and Janet Myers Collins. He is survived by his three sons: Alton Collins III, Eric Collins (Brandi), and Wade Collins (Jess) and their mother Dosha Chapman; his three grandchildren: Benjamin Collins, Erica Turner, and Shiana Spicer; and his great-granddaughter, Eliana Spicer. He is also survived by his three brothers: Paul Collins, Steve Collins (Tina), and Raymond Collins (Charlotte). He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Anthony Collins.
Alton was a retired heavy equipment operator, having worked for several construction and coal companies throughout his life. He even shared his expertise as a heavy equipment instructor for a time.
 Outside of his career, Alton was deeply passionate about his hobbies. He was a former football coach who enjoyed spending time on the field, and he had a love for gardening and horticulture. He also had a great fondness for food and loved collecting recipe books and other books. Alton was an avid fan of music, fishing, and watching sports, and he loved to spend time playing cards and being with his family. A true socializer, and gregarious individual, Alton was the kind of person who could fix just about anything, and he loved tinkering with things until they worked just right.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at Breathitt Funeral Home. A memorial and celebration of life service will follow at 4:00 PM, officiated by Eric Collins and Mark Coburn.
Alton will be remembered for his love of family, and his unwavering dedication to everything he did. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
