Lawrence Molands

Lawrence Molands, 85, of Lexington, Kentucky and formerly of Breathitt County passed away on Friday, March 7, at UK Medical Center in Lexington.
Lawrence dedicated his career to education as a teacher at Breathitt Vocational School until his retirement in 2000. In addition to teaching, he was also a very skilled carpenter. A proud veteran of the United States Navy he served his country from 1959 to 1962.
Faith played an important role in Lawrence’s life; he was of the Christian faith and ministered at Faith Bible Church in Hardshell earlier in his life. He found joy in fishing, squirrel hunting, and playing gospel music on his guitar. A passionate basketball fan, he especially loved cheering for the University of Kentucky and even refereed local basketball games. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family and his beloved dog, Tic.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Carol Combs Molands who passed in 2004; his parents, Sherman Molands and Stella Deaton; his daughter, Kimberly Haddix; daughter-in-law, Marsha Molands; three brothers; and two sisters.
Lawrence is survived by his sons, Jeff Molands, Michael Molands, Thomas Molands (Janice), and Benjamin Molands; his daughter, Beverly Molands (Chris); 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Lawrence will be Tuesday, March 11, 2025 beginning at 5:00 PM at Breathitt Funeral Home with an additional service scheduled for 7:00 PM with Mike Tabor officiating.
His funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 12, at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with John Bunn officiating and burial will follow in the T Point Cemetery at Clayhole with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
His memory will live on through the many lives he touched.
