Eric Tyler Jude, of Frozen, a beloved graphic designer, author, and active member of his community, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington. He was 40 years old.

Eric was born January 15, 1985 in Hazard, Ky to Clifford and Rachel Jude. He was a self-employed creative professional known for his passion for design and writing. In addition to his design work, Eric was a talented writer, authoring his own book and several short stories (using the author name "Colonel D. R. Acula") that reflected his creative spirit and love for the written word.
Eric was a proud Kentucky Colonel, a testament to his outstanding service to the Commonwealth. He was also an active member of his local community, serving as Vice Chairman of the Breathitt County Republican Party. His leadership and commitment to his beliefs inspired many.
Beyond his work, Eric found joy in music—both playing and listening—and enjoyed drawing in his spare time. His creativity extended beyond the professional world, and his passion for art and expression was evident in all aspects of his life.
He will be remembered for his kindness, creativity, and unwavering commitment to his community.
Eric leaves behind the following family to cherish his memory: parents; Clifford & Rachel Ann Johnson Jude, uncles; Edd Jude, Herman Johnson Jr.(Regina), Tim Johnson (Shirley), aunts; Armindy Bevins, Hesidine Church, Bonnie Jean Mullins (Willie), Lucy Spicer, Helen Allen (Anthony), Mary Sloas (Alan), Sandy Trent (Harold), special cousins; Bobby Little Jr. (Lisa), and Hunter Spicer. He is also survived by a host of cousins and other relatives and friends.
Eric was preceded in death by: paternal grandparents; James Thomas & Mahaila Jude, maternal grandparents: Herman & LIlie Johnson, aunts; Cheryl Raleigh, Mary Elizabeth Jude, and Julie Stepp, uncles; Cliston Jude, Robert Jude, and Vondy Jude.
Visitation for Eric will be held Monday, February 3, 2025 from 5:00 - 9:00 PM at Breathitt Funeral Home and his funeral will be held there Tuesday, February 4 at 12:00 Noon with David McIntosh officiating. Eric will be laid to rest in the Field Branch Cemetery on Lower Taulbee Fork with Friends and Family serving as pallbearers.
