Edna Rose Jones

Edna Rose Jones, age 75, of Houston Road, Booneville, KY passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Compassionate Care Center in Richmond,KY.  She was born May 19, 1949, in Breathitt County, KY and was the daughter of the late Nathan Jones and Sarah Herald Jones.  Edna was a nurse, her nursing career started as an LPN and then she earned her RN.  She practiced in many specialties and was also a nursing instructor.  Her hobbies included spending time with her family, thrifting, geology, and baking.  She was well known for her extravagant wedding cakes, and sweets.  Edna was a friend to everyone she met; she left an imprint on all her students that came through her classroom, welcoming them with open arms and strived on their success.

Edna was preceded in death by her sister:  Dianne Cochran.  She is survived by two sons:  Phillip (Sonja) Cochran and James Martin Cochran, II, both of Houston, KY.  Four grandchildren:  Phillip Brian Cochran, II, Tamara Rose Cochran, Marlena Crystal Lynn Cochran, and James Michael (Amber) Cochran, III.   Five great grandchildren:  Campbell Oliver, Layla smith, Kennedi King, James Chase Cochran, Kayce Clay Cochran.  An Honorary grandchild: Bobby McClay Feltner.  She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Kenneth Noble officiating.  Burial in the Herald Cemetery, Houston Road, Booneville, KY.  Visitation will be on Tuesday at 11:00 am until the time of service.  Deaton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  Pallbearers:  James Michael Cochran, Phillip Bryan Cochran, II, Mike Byrd, Darrell McQuinn, Chase Cochran, Kayce Cochran.
