Opal Gilbert

Opal Gilbert, age 86, of Jackson, KY passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025, at the University of Kentucky Hospital.  Opal enjoyed spending time with her family, sitting on her front porch, bird watching, quilting, gardening and canning.  She attended Grace Bible Community Church.  She was born March 6, 1938, in Clay County, KY and was the daughter of the late George and Cynthia House Allen.  She was preceded in death by her husband: Charlie Gilbert.  Brothers: Albert Allen, Virgil Allen, EL Allen, and John Allen.  Sisters:  Jean Vaughn, Lillie Travillan, Marie Hutton, Joyce Dooley, Ada Allen and Liddie Bell Jones.  She is survived by one son:  Chuck (Becky) Gilbert of Frankfort, OH.  Two daughters:  Jill (Bryan) Combs and Sandy Deaton, both of Jackson, KY.  Five grandchildren:  Misty (Jamin) Noble, Bryan Charles (Dixie) Combs, Jason (Jill) Combs, Charles Gilbert and Victor Gilbert.  Great grandchildren:  Ryleigh Noble, Natalee Combs, Jamison Noble, Rader Combs, Mason Combs, Wesley Combs.  She is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Archie Combs officiating.  Burial in the Gilbert Cemetery, Highland Road, Jackson, KY.  Visitation will begin at Noon on Saturday until time of service.
