John Walter Baker

John Walter Baker, 59, husband of Amy Curtis Baker, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at his home in Jackson, KY. He was born July 21, 1964 in Jackson to the late Walter Baker and to Rebecca Herald Baker. An avid outdoorsman, hunter, & fisherman, John loved being out in the natural world. He spent his career as a longtime educator with Breathitt County Schools. In addition to his wife Amy Baker & mother Rebecca Baker, he is survived by: sons Tyler Baker, Chandler (Natasha) Baker, Zachary Rice, & Sawyer Baker; daughter Lauren (Neil) Underwood; grandchild Blake Underwood and soon-to-arrive granddaughter Underwood coming in October; and special aunt Nettie Turner. In addition to his father Walter Baker, he was preceded in death by brother Charles Leslie Baker. Funeral services will be held at Breathitt Funeral Home in Jackson at 2:00PM on Saturday, September 30 with Bro. Paul Turner officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00AM until 2:00PM. Burial will follow the service at the Squire-Turner Cemetery in Jackson with Jeremy Hall, Marty Hayes, Doug Gay, Tyler Baker, Zachary Rice, Chandler Baker, & Bobby Howard serving as pallbearers.
