Melvin "Redbird" Gross

Melvin "Redbird" Gross, 70, Jackson passed away Saturday, March 2, at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was a retired coal miner. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was the son of the late Hargis and Jane Combs Gross. He was also preceded in death by brother, Glenn Gross; sister, Grace Gross. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jimzie Kay Richardson Gross; son, Dustin (Tonya) Gross; daughter, Tracy (Neil) Mullins; brothers, David (Sue) Gross, Jerry (Nellie) Gross; sisters, Judy (Ray) Patrick, Pam Potter, Mary (Ted) Kalen; grandchildren, TeNeil (Mac) Miller, Haley (Isaac) Phipps, Kennedy Mullins, Kaylee Gross; great grandson, Sawyer Miller. Visitation will be Monday, March 4, 5:00 PM. Funeral will be Tuesday, March 5, 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Eric Patrick officiating. Burial will be in Gross Valley Cemetery at War Creek. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
