A fire was reported in a historic structure at Vancleve, but a quick response from the fire department saved the building on Thursday, July 17.
Firefighters from the Vancleve Volunteer Fire Department and the Jackson Fire Department responded to a call near 6856 Kentucky Highway 15 North, across the roadway from the Vancleve Post Office.
When crews arrived, smoke was seen coming from the bottom floor of the building owned by the Ideal Oil and Gas Company.
The flames were quickly extinguished and the building saved.
The structure was the former home of the Parkway Restaurant and was currently partitioned into four apartments, two of which appeared to be occupied.
Neighbors reported that several residents had an ongoing dispute and that one of the residents stated that she would “burn them out.”
Fire crews left the scene at 10:23 a.m. and no cause was determined.
