Carolyn Jean Spicer, 68, of Jackson, KY, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 21, 2025 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, KY.

She was born on July 26, 1956, to Cora Mae Little Smith Terry and the late Hizacar Smith. Carolyn was of the Christian faith and was a retired instructional assistant from Highland-Turner School, where she spent many years touching the lives of students and colleagues.

Carolyn was a beautiful, strong-willed woman who was full of life. She loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart. She was a kind and gentle soul who enjoyed gardening, working puzzles, tending to her flowers, and spending time outdoors.

She was preceded in death by her father, Hizacar Smith; stepfather, Wilson Terry; and brother, David Rae Smith.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving mother, Cora Mae Little Terry; sons, Freddie James Johnson, Damian Spicer, David Spicer (Ally Couch); daughters, Deana Spencer (James), Ashley Spicer; brother, Greg Smith (Crystal); sisters, Shirley Baker (Chad), Cora Margaret Terry, Rebecca Smith, Betty Ann White; and grandchildren, Cheyenne Spencer, Tyler Spencer, and Alison Fugate. She also leaves behind a host of other relatives, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Visitation for Carolyn will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Breathitt Funeral Home. Her funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with Gary Bellamy officiating. Carolyn will be laid to rest in the Smith Family Cemetery on McIntosh Road in Booneville, KY.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Baker, Damian Spicer, Greg Smith, James Spencer, Tyler Spencer, and David Spicer.
