James Pennington

James Pennington, age 66, of Canoe, KY passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025, at the Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard of a brief illness.  He was born July 11, 1959, in Jackson, KY and was the son of the late Levi and Ethel Hall Pennington.  He is survived by one son: Clifton (Sara) Pennington of Canoe, KY.  Three daughters:  Teri (Robbie) Harmon of Frankfort, KY, Stephanie (Mike) Slugantz of Bagdad, KY, Abby Pennington of Lexington, KY.  Six sisters:  Sally (Dewey) Stepp of Booneville, KY, Myrtle McIntosh, Amanda Baker, Virgie Johnson, Eliza Spicer all of Canoe, KY.  Vicie (Herbert) Lindon of Mt. Sterling, KY.  Two brothers: Jesse Pennington (Wilma) of Canoe, KY and Kenneth Craft of Winchester, KY.  Four grandchildren:  Cheyenne, Isabella, Kaiden, Eli.  He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, many cousins and friends.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 11:00 am at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Larry Spicer officiating.  Burial in the Pennington Cemetery, Canoe, KY.  Visitation will begin of Friday from 5:00-9:00 pm.  Deaton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
