Dora Mae Southers Gross

Dora Mae Southers Gross, age 94, of Jackson, KY passed away at her residence on Thursday, July 24, 2025.  She was born November 27, 1930, in Jackson, KY and was the daughter of the late Tom and Gracie Colwell Southers.  She was a member of the Bethlehem Old Regular Baptist Church at Stray Branch of Jackson, KY.  She was preceded in death by her husband: Reverend Bess Gross.  One son: Elijah Gross: Two brothers: Andrew Southers and Ray Southers.  One sister: Faye Deaton and one grandson: Brad Lockard.  She is survived by three sons:  Arthur (Linda) Gross and David (Barbara) Gross, Bess (Paula) Gross, Jr, all of Jackson, KY.  Three daughters:  Lois (Wayne) Jett of Campton, KY; Carol (Auburn) Haddix of Jackson, KY and Willa (Andy) Lewis of Whitesville, NC.  Daughter-in -law: Teresa Gross of Jackson, KY.  She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Bess Gross, Jr officiating.  Burial in the Gross Family Cemetery, Stray Branch Road, Jackson, KY, Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00-9:00 pm.  Deaton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  Pallbearers:  Grandsons and Great Grandsons.  Deaton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
