Gena Lee (Landrum) Bell
July 22, 2025

Gena Lee (Landrum) Bell peacefully passed away on July 21, 2025 after a gallant battle with illness.
Born to the late Forrest Landrum and Hazel Strong Barnett on September 26, 1942 in Haddix, Kentucky, Gena was raised by grandparents, Ged and Mary Cathern Strong, and aunt Gracie, in a loving and joyful childhood. She also immensely valued the close relationship she shared with special stepfather, Freeland Barnett.
Gena now joins her husband of 44 years, Jack Bell. Together they created their greatest joy: her "5 girls". Daughters Deana Craig and Glenda (Brett) Conyers, granddaughters Sydney (Michael) Rogers and Mia (Zack) Walter, and beloved great-granddaughter Savannah Craig.
Gena was warm, vibrant, and cultivated meaning in every interaction. She held anyone she had ever loved close in her heart. Gena adored traveling, sharing belly laughs, watching college basketball, and storytelling. She taught us strength and compassion, loyalty and dedication. She openly expressed her greatest wish for us: to carry on with grace, courage, and unity. We will miss her every day, but we will carry her spirit closely and honor her in the love we share as a family.
Additional survivors include sister, Betty Farler, brother Ron (Betty) Barnett, special nieces Connie (Steve) and Elizabeth (Joe), and nephews Jason (Angie), Garrett, Colin, Will, and Remy.
Gena will be remembered at Scobee Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 with visitation beginning at 11 am until time of service at 12:00 pm with burial immediately following at the Winchester Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brett Conyers, Michael Rogers, Zack Rankin, Jason Hale, Garrett Hale, and Joe Barger
A healthy Breathitt County requires great community news.
