Homer Lawrence Johnson

Homer Lawrence Johnson, 84, of Jackson, Ky went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 1, 1941, he was a son of the late Sam and Mary Alice Watkins Johnson.

Homer was the loving husband of Georgia Little Johnson, to whom he was married for 61 wonderful years. He was a faithful servant of the Lord and a long-time member of the Old Original Free Pentecostal Church of God, where he worshiped and served for over 55 years.

Homer was a United States Army veteran. He retired after many years of hard work as a self-employed bulldozer and heavy equipment operator. He was also a former employee of Falcon Coal Company and worked as a coal truck operator. Known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and love for his family, Homer’s life was an example of integrity and faithfulness. He was also known for driving his orange dump truck, nicknamed “Pumpkin.”

In his spare time, Homer enjoyed the outdoors and cherished moments with his family. His hobbies included hunting with his grandson, fishing, operating heavy equipment, and riding his Razor. His friends and family lovingly called him “Whitey,” a nickname that reflected his frequently combed, flowing white hair.

Homer is survived by his beloved wife, Georgia Little Johnson; his son, Jeff L. Johnson; daughter, Tina L. Coyle and husband Joseph; three grandchildren, Nathan Coyle, Makana Johnson and Carson Johnson; and two great-grandchildren, Elijah Coyle and Emersyn Coyle.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Sam & Mary Alice Watkins Johnson, brothers Austin Johnson, Carl Johnson, Sherman Johnson; sisters Coy Banks, Katherine South, Gladys Roberts, Etta Beatty, Eunice Montgomery, Betty Robinson and Naomi Little.

Visitation for Homer will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Breathitt Funeral Home. His funeral service will be conducted Sunday, July 20, 2025, at 1:00 PM beginning with Military Rites at the funeral home with Doug Finley officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery at Belcher’s Fork.

Pallbearers will be Nick Napier, Jeff Riggs, Carson Johnson, Nathan Coyle, Jeff Johnson, Colby Taylor and Trey Coyle. Honorary pallbearers will be David Bryant, Bobby Deaton, Robert Howard, Jeff Noble, Bill Campbell and Kelly Noble Jr.
